Mount totals
How Many Mounts Are in World of Warcraft?
The short answer
Missing Mounts currently tracks 1,555 World of Warcraft mounts in its public catalog. That figure is the live row count from the same dataset powering the mounts list, not a hard-coded estimate.
Treat “how many mounts exist” and “how many mounts can this character use” as different questions. The catalog total counts mounts Missing Mounts records; usability still depends on faction, class, profession, level, location, and flight rules.
What the total includes
The tracked total covers mounts present in the Missing Mounts catalog: names, sources, categories, and—when recorded—reputation or Renown requirements. It is a planning inventory for collectors, not an official Blizzard census of every mount that has ever existed in every build.
Some mounts may be unavailable to your current character even when they appear in the total. Others may exist in game data that Missing Mounts has not yet imported. When the catalog is refreshed, this page’s count moves with it.
How to check your own total in game
Open Collections from the World of Warcraft game menu, or press the default Shift-P shortcut, then choose the Mounts tab. The Mount Journal shows the mounts your Warband has learned in the current region.
A collected mount belongs to your regional collection. That does not mean every character on the account can use it in every situation. For the step-by-step journal walkthrough, see where to find your WoW mounts.
Compare your collection with Missing Mounts
Use the character or Warband scanner when you want a missing-mount list instead of a single total. A scan compares a public Blizzard snapshot with mounts tracked by Missing Mounts and highlights reputation and Renown targets you still need.
If you only want to browse sources without selecting a character, open the full mounts database or the focused reputation and Renown mounts list.
Total mounts versus leaderboard ranks
The catalog total answers “how many mounts does Missing Mounts track?” The mount leaderboard answers a different question: which indexed characters currently show the highest collected counts. Leaderboard ranks cover characters Missing Mounts has scanned—not every World of Warcraft player.
If you searched for who has the most mounts, stay on the leaderboard. If you searched for how many mounts are in the collectible pool tracked here, this guide is the right page.
Why the number changes
Expansion patches, shop releases, promotions, and data imports can all change the total. This page reads from the catalog when it renders, so it stays aligned with the mounts database instead of preserving a number in an old screenshot or article.
